How our directory and comparisons work

Last updated: 18 August 2026

We compare HR technology. That only works if you know how the comparison is put together — which vendors are in it, where the data comes from, and how we make our money. This page answers those questions. Spotted something wrong? Let us know and we will correct it.

1. How does a vendor get into the directory?

Listing is free and open to any HR technology vendor active in the Dutch market. We create most listings ourselves during market research, without the vendor knowing. Beyond that, any vendor can apply or claim an existing listing.

Paying is not a condition for being listed, and not paying is no reason to be left out.

2. When does a vendor appear in a comparison?

On our overview pages we only show profiles that carry enough verified information to compare anything meaningful. In practice that means:

  • a description of at least 120 characters;
  • at least one category (ATS, payroll or EOR, for example);
  • at least three checked factual fields, such as target audience, regions, languages or pricing model.

That threshold applies to everyone equally. If a vendor is missing, those details are still missing — not because they are not paying. Did we miss something? Complete your profile and you will appear at the next refresh.

As long as fewer than three vendors in a category clear that threshold, we show no table and say the comparison is still being built. Half a comparison misleads more than none at all.

3. How do we verify the facts?

Factual details come from the vendor's own public sources, usually their website. On every profile we name the source and the date we checked it.

We use artificial intelligence to read and summarise public sources, but never to publish: every suggestion goes past a person who checks it field by field against the source and then approves, rejects or edits it. What the source does not say does not get filled in — nothing is guessed, and nothing is topped up from general knowledge.

Prices and product features change. What you see here is a snapshot with a date on it; always check prices with the vendor before you decide.

4. What does a paying partner buy — and what not?

Vendors can take a subscription to present themselves better. That changes:

  • how their profile page looks (their own story, selling points, imagery, video);
  • whether there is a link through to their own website;
  • which statistics they see about their own page.

It explicitly does not change:

  • whether they are in the directory or in a comparison;
  • where they sit in a comparison — that order is alphabetical;
  • whether our matching puts them in front of a buyer, and with what score.

A vendor can write their own story, but not their own facts. Anything a vendor wrote themselves is clearly labelled on their page as their own words, separate from the details we checked.

5. How do we make money?

For buyers OptioHR is free: the intake, the match and the advice cost you nothing.

We are paid by vendors. They pay to see and respond to a request that matches what they offer, and they can take a subscription for a fuller profile page. Which fees can be agreed with a vendor is set out in our terms and conditions.

What this never touches: who is in a comparison, in what position, and which vendors our matching puts in front of a buyer. Those outcomes follow from the data and the criteria in the intake — not from what a vendor pays us.

6. How do you get data corrected or removed?

Is something wrong, or would you rather not be listed as a vendor? Send us a message through the contact page. We correct demonstrably incorrect data as quickly as we can, and we carry out removal requests.

Our public pages carry no personal data about vendors’ employees — only company details and general contact addresses.

Brand names and logos

Brand names and logos belong to the vendors themselves. We use them purely to name and compare their products. A listing in the directory does not mean the vendor endorses our platform, works with us, or pays us.
